Could be.  Some say these are hard to get, so it depends mostly or your needs/wants/budget and confidence.  Their waranty & personal history does it for me.  They know it & is why they have the great reputation

I'd personally stick with an eVGA 680, preferably signiature 2 model... If you can get it.  Best Warranty & parts binning IMO, and the 680 full part is preferable if you can stretch the budget.  My own 680 is a reference Gigabyte one, which runs very well too, though the warranty conditions are tigh

Any ideas how easy one could get a 2 slot 680? Would Palit be an option? Or would it be better to get a 670?

680 currently doing 6 tasks at a time.. No idea if that's optimal, but it looks cool  ;D

SETIv8 OSX Apps
« on: January 05, 2016, 09:31:52 PM »
Some recent Apps for SETIv8. Packages contain an app_info.xml for the contained Apps.
Packages will be updated as testing continues.
The GPU Apps require OSX 10.7.5, the SSE41 CPU App requires SSE41 and OSX 10.6.
The AVX CPU App r3366 requires OS 10.8, and the AVX2 CPU App requires 10.11.
You should free One CPU core when running the GPU Apps.

To install the Apps copy&paste the expanded files into /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu and then run the BOINC Installer to set the file permissions. To revert to Stock just remove the files.

MB CPU Apps for SETIv8. The SSE41 App will work with Core2 CPUs with at least SSE 4.1 in Snow Leopard and above, and with AVX CPUs in Mountain Lion and above.
The AVX App will work with AVX CPUs in Mountain Lion and above. The AVX2 App requires El Capitan.
The SSSE3 App should work with all Core2 and above CPUs in Snow Leopard and above and Hopefully with the AVX CPUs in Lion (Darwin 11.4.2)

Re: SETIv8 OSX CUDA Apps

CUDA Apps for Pre-Fermi and Newer GPUs. Correct CUDA Drivers will have to be installed and Updated for each OSX System Update, Links are included. You will need the 7.5 CUDA Libraries for the CUDA 75 Special App, they are available from the CUDA 7.5 Toolkit. CUDA 4.2 will work with Pre-Fermi GPUs in Snow Leopard to Mavericks, Pre-Fermi GPUs will not work in Yosemite and above although the 4.2 App will work with Fermi and above GPUs in the Latest OSX. The CUDA 7.5 Special App is for Compute Code 3.2 and above GPUs in Mavericks and above using at least the CUDA Driver 7.5.30 for OSX Mavericks and Yosemite. El Capitan & Sierra should use the CUDA 8 Driver 8.0.71, this means nothing higher than 10.12.4 with WebDriver-367.15.10.45f01 will work correctly.
Check to see if your GPU is CC 3.2 or above here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA#GPUs_supported. See the Settings_Libraries_and_Drivers.txt file in the docs folder for installation and best use.
